Episode 6. Carl
This is Mev's brother, Carl. Last summer, he came to Korea for a visit.
"How do you say 'food' and 'here' in Korean?"
He didn't know Korean before he came to Korea, but he learned two important Korean words while staying: Um-shik (food) and Yeo-gi (here).
One day, Carl, Mev and I went to a restaurant nearby. We asked Carl to order menus in Korean for fun.
To our surprise, Carl succeeded! "Wow, you did it! Congratulations!"
We waited and waited but the food didn't come. To our astonishment, Carl raised his hand and called the server in Korean by saying, "Umshik~ Yeogi~"
When the food was brought out, the server asked, "Who ordered omelette?"
Carl answered in Korean saying, "omelette, yoegi." He could communicate perfectly well with only two words!
You can survive in Korea by using just two little words. It's that easy.
